about us

RodentPlus Conservation Initiative (RPCI) is a pioneering non-profit organization based in Nigeria, dedicated to safeguarding the often-underappreciated yet ecologically vital roles of rodents and shrews in biodiversity. While these small mammals are frequently overlooked in conservation discourse, they serve as keystone species (maintaining ecosystem balance, supporting food chains, and contributing to soil health).

At RPCI, we envision a future where humans and small mammals coexist harmoniously, fostering biodiversity resilience and sustainable ecosystems. Our mission is to challenge misconceptions, drive scientific research, and implement inclusive conservation strategies that protect these species while benefiting local communities.

our approach

Education & Awareness

Through interactive learning, we dispel myths and foster appreciation for these misunderstood creatures. We also raise public awareness about the importance of rodent and small to medium-sized mammal conservation.

Community Engagement & Capacity Building

We collaborate with farmers, educators, and indigenous groups to develop rodent-friendly agricultural practices. Our training programs empower locals with knowledge on humane pest control and habitat preservation.

Research & Advocacy

Partnering with conservationists, we support field studies to document rodent biodiversity and threats. We advocate for policy changes that integrate small mammal conservation into national environmental strategies..
